Tutored Painting Workshops

This course is best suited to improovers . All materials are supplied by the the students.

These are weekly classes, held on thursday afternoons from 2-4.30 pm, which were originally designed for more advanced students who wished to work on their own projects with guidance from me as required. However, I have had a few beginners who have thrived in this unstructured enviroment. I run these courses through out the year in 6 and 8 week blocks.

Students supply their own materials and work on their own projects so if you book onto this course please turn up with a project to paint and the materials to complete it with.

Students enrolled on the workshop classes receive a 10% discount for booking on other courses, re-enrolling on the next workshop and if partners

When enrolling on these courses you will also get a discount voucher for the local art shops to help you with the cost of your art materials and as a workshop student I offer you the chance to put your work in The Student Gallery on this website.

This course is will be looking at the techniques and methods of using water soluble oil paints. Oil painting has been around for many centuries and has stood the test of time but if you are like me you will have a complete aversion to the smell of spirit based solvents.  We will be using the Windsor & Newton Artisan range which are a water soluble formulation of this traditional medium.

With these paints there is no need for spirit based solvents but just plain old tap water. They are lovely to paint with and when you get paint on your canvas the only thing one can smell is the lovely aroma of linseed oil!

The days painting will be based on one of my paintings which will be designed to complete in a single day. Students will be supplied with a drawing which they can either copy or trace.

During the day students will be given step-by-step demonstrations of each stage of painting this picture, written notes and personal tuition.
